Reliance JioFiber Broadband Service Expected to Launch in March-End
Reliance Jio could officially roll out the Reliance JioFiber broadband service by the end of this quarter. This service is currently in beta in about 10 cities including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Hyderabad.
Under the preview offer, the lucky beta users are now availing 100 GB of free data every month. Reliance Jio promised the free for three months. And after the data is consumed, the speed will drop to 1Mbps. However, chances are that they may get to enjoy it till Jio launches its fixed broadband services just like the mobile services.
The company is likely to provide both broadband and Internet TV connection through a single connection. Which means users may not have to pay for their landline, broadband and cable TV connection separately.
Once again Reliance Jio is ready to disrupt the broadband market in India. Multiple broadband service providers such as ACT Fibre, DEN, Spectranet, etc., are slashing the price of different plans, while simultaneously offering more data speeds. In fact, a curious trend has been an effort to ‘lock in’ users with extended plans at attractive prices. Plans that need a six-month deposit or even an annual payment are not uncommon. But, it would be exciting to see whether or not Reliance Jio will be able to create a storm in the broadband sector as well.
