Record 75 Billion WhatsApp Messages Sent on New Year’s Eve
WhatsApp has reported a record-breaking 75 billion messages sent on New Year 2018. The number includes 13 billion images and 5 billion videos that were exchanged on December 31 between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM PST. Even the servers went down on New Year’s Eve which made it unusable for quite some time.
In fact, the company announced that in India alone, 200 million monthly active individuals sent more than 20 billion messages on that night. The company says that the New Year’s Eve was the ‘biggest messaging day’ ever, closing out a successful year. WhatsApp is the biggest chat application in the world with more than 1 billion active users per day.
WhatsApp in 2017 introduced a bunch of new features such as live location sharing, video calling, ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature, WhatsApp status which at present has over 300 million daily active users, New Album View for Photos.
