How to Link Mobile Number to Aadhaar Card through OTP?
Indian Government has made it compulsory to link mobile number to Aadhaar card for verification of identity. Initially, the users have to visit the customer centers of various mobile networks, but it was not feasible for many. But now UIDAI has started an OTP based authentication to link mobile number with Aadhaar card.
People can’t call the number and link Aadhaar if they are on roaming network. Also, if their Aadhaar belong to a different state and mobile number to a different state, they must visit the customer care center.
This IVR (Interactive Voice Response) process supports English, Hindi, and different regional languages. The deadline for linking your SIM card to Aadhaar is March 31, 2018. So, you must link it before the last date to avoid the deactivation of your phone number.
The details of the new IVR services were revealed by Digital India official Twitter handle and also claimed that this will allow any mobile user with multiple numbers to link their Aadhaar number.
Digital India tweeted, “DigitalIdentity service made easy | @UIDAI (Aadhaar) has issued directives for generating OTP either through the service provider’s website or through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services to facilitate the linking, also known as re-verification.”
Link Aadhaar to mobile from home with OTP-
Step 1 – Dial 14546 from your phone and you will hear an IVR voice
Step 2 – Select the language according to the instructions given to you
Step 3 – Enter the 12-digit unique Aadhaar number
Step 4 – Wait on call for the telecom operator to verify your Aadhaar details such as Name, DOB, and Address with UIDAI
Step 5 – After that, you will receive an OTP while you are on the call
Step 6 – Enter the OTP you will receive through SMS
Step 7 – You’ll get an SMS for confirming the Re-verification (the process will take up to 48 hours to complete)
