Import Tax Effect: Apple Increases iPhone Price in India

 

After the Indian government hiked the customs duty from 10 % to 15 % for smartphones last week, Apple became the first manufacturer to raise the prices across iPhone models, except iPhone SE that the company assembles in the country.

Apple increased iPhone India prices by around 3.5 percent on average, with the iPhone 6 seeing the highest price raise in percentage (4.3 percent), while the iPhone 8 256GB price has increased by 3.1 percent only.

iPhone X is now available in market at Rs 92,430 for the 64GB variant, which was earlier available for Rs 89,000. The iPhone X 256GB variant will now cost Rs 1,05,720 from the earlier price of Rs 1,02,000. The iPhone 8 64GB and 256GB variants will now priced at Rs 66,120 and Rs 79,420 respectively. The iPhone 8 Plus will now cost Rs 75,450 for 64GB variant and Rs 88,750 for the 256GB variant.
