Honor 7X Receives Face Unlock through OTA Update

Huawei’s sub brand Honor has started rolling out a new software update for Honor 7X with Face unlock feature in India. The update will be available through OTA (over the air) and will be completed by March. Users, to enable face recognition, need to enroll their face by accessing Face recognition feature in phone’s settings menu. They can enroll their face by simply looking at the camera. By detecting the face, Honor 7X detects the positioning between users and the smartphone and also adjusts the direction accordingly.

The new update that brings Face unlock for the Honor 7X will roll out that is being pushed in batches. There are no details about the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone yet.

Honor 7X sports a 5.93-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. It runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0 Nougat and has dual-SIM (Nano) slot.

The smartphone comes with a dual camera setup – comprising a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera with PDAF and an LED flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera. Honor 7X is available in 32GB and 64GB connectivity options further expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB. Sensors onboard comprise of an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, a fingerprint sensor (on the rear panel), and proximity sensor. It measures 156.5×75.3×7.6mm and weighs 165 grams.
