Google Gmail Go App for Android Launched; Available at Play Store
Google has released a new Gmail Go App for Android users. It is the company’s newest application to join the Go Apps series and much ‘lite’ version of the original Gmail App. The Gmail Go app can work in regions where the network is not great and allows reading and replying to messages offline as well. It offers all important features of the original App such as sorting mails under different labels like Primary, Social, Promotions, push notifications and much more.
Gmail Go App supports new mail notifications, comes with 15GB of free storage from Google and a spam filter. It also has the functionality of adding both Gmail and non-Gmail addresses such as Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com, or other IMAP/POP accounts. But, it will only support smartphones running on Android 8.1 and is expected to be present on Android Oreo (Go Edition) devices.
Google announced that the Android Oreo (Go Edition) mobile phones will come with Android Go Apps. These applications are optimized for working effectively on devices with slower hardware and some of the Apps are Google Go, Maps Go, YouTube Go, Files Go, Assistant Go, and others.
The Android Go (Oreo Edition) was announced last year in December. It is a light-weight Android Oreo version made for low-end smartphones with less than 1GB of RAM. It can enable by simply ticking off a configuration flag. The company also said that Android Go will be updated with each iteration of Android, consist of Android P (Go Edition), Android Q (Go Edition) and so forth. Till now Micromax, Intex, Lava and Reliance Jio is rumored to be working on releasing mobile phones running Android Oreo (Go Edition).
