Apple to Launch 9.7-inch iPad in 2018
According to sources, Apple is planning to release a more affordable version iPad next year. Digitimes claims that the rumored iPad may be about $70 cheaper than the current model which retails for $329.
This year’s Apple iPad 9.7-inch costs Rs 28,000 and Rs 35,700 for the Wi-Fi 32GB and 128GB storage version. The cellular version of the 9.7-inch iPad is priced at Rs 38,600 and Rs 46,300.
Apple’s current 9.7-inch iPad sports an aluminium unibody enclosure and a Retina display with 2048×1536 pixel resolution. It is powered by Apple’s A9 chipset with 64-bit architecture, along with the M9 motion co-processor.
There’s an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with f/2.4 aperture, 5P lens and several shooting modes including Panorama, Timer, Hybrid IR Filter, Auto Image Stabilization and more. The camera can record Full HD resolution video at 30fps and slo-mo videos at 120fps. The 9.7-inch iPad also has a 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture and HD video recording. The device is backed by a 32.4Wh non-removable battery that is rated to deliver up to 10 hours of web surfing.
“Apple is also looking to expand the inexpensive iPad into the industrial and service sectors,” the report adds.
Apple’s more wallet-friendly iPad may arrive sometime in the second quarter of 2018, which is to say it may not hit store shelves until June at the absolute latest.
