Apple iPhones and Watch Prices Increased After Import Duty Hike

Apple has increased the price of its Apple iPhones except for iPhone SE as well as Apple Watches in India. Last week the Indian government announced an increase in import duty at the Union Budget 2018-19 on mobile phones prices to 20 percent. This is the second price hike in less than 2 months after a recent price hike in December when the duty was increased from 10 percent to 15 percent.

The iPhone SE that is currently assembled in India doesn’t see a price hike is available at Rs 26,000 for 32GB variant while Rs 35,000 for the 128GB version. Other models get up to 3.6 percent hike. Apple iPhone X 256GB model now selling at Rs. 1,08,930, compared to its previous price of Rs. 1,05,720. It is up about 6.8 percent from the launch price of Rs. 102,000.

Although the company did not hike the price of Apple Watch last time, this time it has increased the price of Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 1 by about  8 or 9 percent depending on the model. This is a marginal price increase that might not affect the buyers. Check out the change in mobile phones prices below.
