Android 8.0 Oreo Beta Update Starts Rolling Out for Nokia 6
HMD Global has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for the Nokia 6. The chief product officer Juho Sarvikas has announced the roll out on Twitter. He tweeted, “#Nokia6 is now joining the #AndroidOreo beta. Subscribe to #Nokiamobilebetalabs to get the update and help us to make the official release just right! http://nokia.com/phones/betalabs.”
The update will be available through Nokia smartphones beta labs and is only available for beta testers to test the Android 8.0 followed by wide-roll out post the best testing phase. The update is 1140.4MB in size and comes with version number 5.140. It also involves Android security update for December 2017.
With Android 8.0 Oreo, Nokia 6 will get features such as Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Background limits, Adaptive icons, notification channels, Wide-gamut color for apps, Companion device pairing, Keyboard navigation and much more.
To join the Nokia phones beta labs, users need to have a working Nokia 6 phone and need to create an account and validate their phone by entering the IMEI number. Once they are with the whole process, they will be getting the beta software Over-The-Air (OTA) update which might take up to 12 hours post activation. The program also gives an option to roll back to Nougat if they no longer wish to continue the beta testing.
HMD Global unveiled Nokia 6 in June this year at Rs 14,999 in India. The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch full HD with 1080×1920 pixels resolution, runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with Adreno 505 GPU. Nokia 6 offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB by adding a microSD card and is exclusively available on Amazon.
