Amazon Echo Speakers Now Available Across Offline Stores in India Without Invite
Amazon Echo speakers were till date available through invite only. Now the company announced that Amazon Echo Speakers including Echo Dot, Echo, and Echo Plus are available to all for purchase in India. People can buy them through Amazon India and 350 retail outlets involving Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Crossword, etc., in 20 cities across the country.
When the Alexa powered Echo devices launched on Amazon India they were available at a 30 percent discount. Along with an Amazon Prime membership worth Rs. 999, however, both these perks will sadly no longer apply.
The Amazon Echo speakers were initially introduced in October through online invite only. These Echo speakers feature Alexa AI-powered assistant who is capable of offering new English voice with local pronunciations and intonation; support for music titles, names, and places in additional non-English languages; local knowledge; and local skills from Indian developers.
Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot are voice-controlled speakers, which will let individuals book a cab, play music, turn the lights on and off, give sports scores, check the weather, call friends and family and more. Since the Echo products pack far-field voice controls, they can do all this from other room just with their voice. Setting up these is also simple with free Alexa App available for Android or iOS smartphones.
Amazon Echo Dot comes with a price tag of Rs. 4,499, Rs. 9,999 for the Echo while Echo Plus costs Rs 14,999. Additionally, Amazon is also giving a free Philips Hue bulb with the purchase of Echo Plus on Amazon India and select retail outlets.
“We are grateful to the customers across India who have helped create the Alexa experience during the invite phase. We are excited to make Alexa and our Echo devices available for all customers, and we can’t wait to hear about their experiences. Since Alexa runs in the cloud, she is always getting smarter – the Alexa experience in India continues to evolve with new features, even better speech recognition, new localised skills, expanded music selection, and more,” said Jayshree Gururaj, Director – Amazon Devices.
